Single-pixel imaging / ghost imaging is a technique where modulated light is measured by a large area detector. This operates in two methods: (i) where an object is flood-illuminated, and the reflected light is modulated by a spatial modulator or (ii) where an object is illuminated by light modulated using the mentioned devices.

The initial 2 chapters introduce the electromagnetic spectrum with a specific focus on optics; and share information regarding detectors across multiple wavelength regions. Subsequently, chapters 3 and 4 introduce single-pixel and ghost imaging, with a detailed description of applications where this technique has found notable utility. These applications will not be limited only to optical wavelengths but in the domains such as x-rays, infrared and electron microscopy, to name a few.

Future editions of the text will include updated research and novel applications.

Key Features

• Covers theoretical and practical applications of single-pixel/ghost imaging systems

• Provides a simple method for realising a basic single-pixel/ghost imaging system

• Includes useful descriptions of light modulation technologies

• Presents useful descriptions of light detector technologies at both visible and invisible wavelengths, and with high-resolution timing.
