This book will be a revision and update of the existing report (IPEM-31-Measurement of the Performance Characteristics of Diagnostic X-ray Systems used in Medicine. Part III Computed Tomography X-ray Scanners, 2/e, published in 2003.)
The main purpose of the report is to make recommendations on the tests and methodology required for the performance testing of CT scanners used in medical imaging. The recommendations will draw from published literature, from the findings of the IPEM evidence-based QA (Quality Assurance) working party, and from the expertise of the members of the working party. A new edition of this publication will enable physicists responsible for equipment QC (Quality Control) programmes (such as the volume editors) to implement effective testing, with test methodology representing a UK consensus on best practice. It will allow physicists and technologists who are not CT specialists or who are working in smaller centres to gain from the expertise of others.

KEY FEATURES:

  • A publication representing the UK professional consensus on the tests required the CT scanners used for medical imaging.
  • An accessible introduction to the physics and mathematics/statistics of CT scanners and CT reconstruction, at the level required to understand the recommended tests.
  • An update to a much-valued publication, which has become dated as new technology has been introduced into the field.
